| This was one of my favorite shots. I really liked the emotion, tone and feeling depicted in this photo. The upwards shot gives a small flower a larger appearance and stance then those around it. This flower is actually smaller and it is almost lost within in the garden but this point of view changes all that. The darker tone makes it seem cold and bleak in a way as it struggles to thrive and claim its place. |
Next week we'll study macro shots so by the end of Week 3 you'll certainly know how to get close and keep the subject in focus. As for the cosmos from the bug's eye view, your auto camera light meter took the light from the sky as its reading thus making your photo darker than it needed to be. The trick with avoiding that is to take the light meter reading on the plant itself: get close, hold the shutter-release 1/2 down (which takes the light meter reading), keep it depressed 1/2 down and swing your camera up to get the point of view you want then release the shutter all the way. Voila, you override the auto sensor and the flower should be lighter. Another solution is to drop the photo into picnik.com and bring up the exposure through the tools there.
ReplyDeleteI love up close pictures of flowers. I have tons of photos of all my flowers in my gardens. I would have chosen a flower pic for mine, but I didn't have any in bloom at the time of the assignment.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I like the second photo. I like the darker tone and how it blends with the sky.
